Lend Us Your Ear launches mission at Avon Walk

New Hampshire Non-Profit Gives Voice to Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Participants' Experience

Exeter, NH, Apr. 14, 2011 – Houston area Avon Walkers (www.AvonWalk.org/houston) will be the first to share their experiences, in their own voice, as they complete the kick-off event of the 2011 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer season. LendUsYourEar.org is a new nonprofit organization that shares the experiences and stories of those shaping a better world through charitable organizations. Lend Us Your Ear gives a voice to events and important causes by capturing, archiving, and sharing audio recordings from the people who donate their time.

“One of the special parts of the Avon Walk experience is hearing the very moving stories of all of the participants. We are thrilled to have Lend Us Your Ear as a partner to capture the many meaningful  reasons that bring these people together to help us fight breast cancer and to hear their reactions to the Avon Walk experience right in the moment.  The Avon Walk is a weekend filled with laughter, enthusiasm and at times a few tears, and it is wonderful that people will now be able to capture these stories and pass them along to others." says Eloise Caggiano, program director, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer (www.AvonWalk.org).

“Lend Us Your Ear is very excited to be a part of the Avon Walk. This event demonstrates the power of single individuals to come together and make a difference, to raise not only money but awareness. The stories each person shares enables us to more fully understand the impact of this event and the affect it has, not only on the participants but also those on the sidelines along the street cheering on the walkers. We are excited to be able to capture their stories firsthand in the Wellness Village and at the Closing Ceremony,” says Cheryl Nordyke of Lend Us Your Ear (www.LendUsYourEar.org).

LUYE staff will record everyone ready to share their reasons for supporting the cause, and hand out “I told” stickers. The recordings will preserve the emotions of the experience, and the energy and enthusiasm of walkers fresh from an invigorating day with their community. The stories will be posted on the Lend Us Your Ear website, where they can be shared with family and friends and used for future fundraising events.

About the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer
The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer (www.AvonWalk.org) series is a project of the Avon Foundation for Women (www.AvonFoundation.org), a 501(c)(3) public charity. Since its launch in 2003, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer series has raised more than $380 million through the dedication of more than 142,000 participating women and men from across the country, including hundreds of Avon Associates and Representatives. The Avon Foundation awards the funds raised to local, regional and national breast cancer organizations to support breast cancer awareness and education, screening and diagnosis, access to treatment, support services, and scientific research. The Walks take place in nine cities, covering 39 miles in two days, and raise significant awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. The Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Series is the largest fund-raising event for the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade (www.avonfoundation.org/breast-cancer-crusade). Since the Crusade launched in 1992, Avon breast cancer programs in more than 50 countries have raised almost $700 million for research and advancing access to care, regardless of a person’s ability to pay.

About Lend Us Your Ear
Lend Us Your Ear is a nonprofit organization, working on obtaining 501(c)3 status. We formed to work with charitable organizations to capture, archive and share audio recordings associated with their events and causes. We provide a single destination where people can share their stories, in their own words and voices, about why they get involved. The Lend Us Your Ear service empowers charitable causes to share the purpose and impact of their efforts from the very people who are participating, funding, volunteering or benefiting from them.

Lend Us Your Ear captures firsthand recordings to share on www.LendUsYourEar.org and for partner organization and sponsors. Lend Us Your Ear is powered by The Voice Library (www.TheVoiceLibrary.net), an online archive service for capturing and distributing audio recordings.
